    Project Guidelines

Post by AMV_Ph34r on Tue Jun 09, 2009 4:48 pm

These are the official Project Guidelines. They can also be found here, but I'll post them again here.

So here they are, in all their copied and pasted glory!

You must abide by these rules if you want your clip to be in the video.

    1. Both Anime and some Video Game Clips are accepted, so if you have a good idea for the latter, go ahead and send it (Anime is still preferable though)

    2. Content of any kind is accepted, that means that yes, rather explicit content is accepted (those who should know will definitely know what this means), however, anything too explicit will be put into a separate video (rather similar to AMV Hell 0) which will be released at the same time.

    3. Subtitles are definitely not preferred, but if you can't remove them, ask an Administrator or fellow clip maker.

    4. Try to keep the clips under one minute, as being too long will take up too much space (We will be a little lenient early on if a clip is a little over a minute, so if you have a clip timed 1:13, don't fret).

    5. We won't be too strict as far as resolution for the first video, but try to get it at least 640x480.

    5. Remember that this is humor oriented so very, very few serious clips will be accepted.

    6. We (still) don't have the FTP server set up yet, so don't worry about sending in your clips just yet. We will be sure to post an announcement when it is ready (currently we're arguing over who will pay for the server). Don't worry, it won't be too long before we get it set up!

That is about it, so get those clips made ahead of time so you'll have em ready!

Yes, but fewer of them will be accepted. If I remember right, there were some video game clips in AMV Hell.

Do you mean 5-10 min. total, or each? There is a 1-minute time limit for each clip, but if you want I could take a look at some of them, and maybe choose one to use for the credits.

Might have been. I can't be sure.
But to the point: we do accept video game clips, just not as many as anime clips.

You'll think of something in time. Just listen to some music and think of what it would go well with.

Yeah, because this is a non-profit organization, and we're not using full songs.

Yeah, that's mostly what it is. iTunes lets you listen to the free, 30-second song sample, and nobody has a problem.

    We're getting off topic again.
Discuss the guidelines here. Should I make changes?

Yeah, FTP. Stands for "File Transfer Protocol". It's basically an online storage system where you put files for if you want a backup in case of a computer crash, if you don't have enough HDD space, or if you want an easy way to transfer files from one computer to another. We'd be using the last option. People upload their clips, and I download them to review them, and post a link in the admin-only section for all admins (and maybe mods) to decide which clips get in.
